Really looking forward to this year's apple swap and hope to see many faces,  old and new, on the farm in October. I'm afraid we cannot accept apples before then as the early varieties tend not to make the best cider. Please get in touch if you would like anymore info -

Many thanks and hope to see you on the farm then.

The exchange rate this year is 5kg of apples for a 330ml bottle of cider.

Silly Moo Cider's name came about as our cows go a little bit silly when they get the chance to devour the apple pomace left behind from pressing the juice..!

Silly Moo is an unusually civilised farmhouse cider, made on the farm by Andrew and Rachel. It is a marriage of East coast and West Country cider styles as we blend our fully fermented cider with more apple juice to balance it.

Our orchard has over nineteen varieties of traditional cider apple trees - bittersweet, sharp and bittersharp apples, which we planted in 2011. These are blended with apples we source from English orchards and the gardens of Sussex, which are brought to our farm in the Autumn to be swapped for cider.

Made once a year in the autumn means that every year the cider is slightly different, reflecting the terroir - it's soils, the year's weather and the amazing variety of apples our swappers bring in.

Our  2017 swap was a great success - we took in a whopping 13 tonnes of surplus Sussex apples, paid for with over 3000 bottles of Silly Moo . We look forward to repeating the swap this autumn. If you want to get involved in our apple swap, please sign up to our newsletter for more details.

Full of fresh apple aromas, bottled Silly Moo is a medium dry 4.8% ABV slightly sparkling cider. Golden in colour and made from only freshly pressed apple juice and yeast, no added sugar or sweeteners. We don't pasteurise this cider but it is carefully filtered to keep it fresh (and stop it fermenting further).

If you're a shop, pub or restaurant and would like a sample please let us know and we'll drop it in. We have had to drink a lot of cider to work out what we like - please let us know what you think.

The Moo is now also on tap!

Silly Moo Unfiltered is available in kegs and bag in box and is naturally cloudy as we don't filter the cider.

It's medium-dry and lightly sparkling, with a fresh apple flavour and full mouthfeel. We like to think of it as bottled Silly Moo's slightly less civilised but just as delicious younger brother.
