Winter Farm Updates: Yard Maintenance, Cattle Care & Festive Events

Good morning,

And what a glorious morning it is. The cattle are very happy in this weather, much preferring the cold and crisp to the damp and drizzly, with their healthy coats and internal heating system really coming into their own in these near zero temps.

This week has been one of yard maintenance, getting the farm ready to hunker down for winter. We have been carting silage from the fields back to the yard for winter feed. We’ve cleared leaves and unblocked the gutters and drains. We’ve insulated the outside of the Cyder Shack so it is now a much cosier space for December. We’ve moved two of the storage containers and associated debris from the yard out the back, to make more space for covered seating for our upcoming events, which has meant a couple of trips to the tip for me - a genuine hobby.

All in all, a good week of sorting, tidying and getting things lined up for the next few months.

Next Saturday is our wreath workshop with My Posy Neighbour and we still have some spots available. Charlotte will be bringing all the ingredients to make your own luxury, sustainable wreath to take home, and you can enjoy a festive few hours at the farm with a mulled cider to warm you up on arrival.

We’re open tomorrow, and every Saturday until the end of the year, with a few markets and Friday evenings thrown in for good measure. Have a look at everything coming up here and we hope to see you in the yard soon.

Warmest everything, Rachel
